I am a photo whore: Part II

Our second engagement shoot was in New York City, by J'adore Love Photography, whom I found on the weddingbee classifieds. You bees should really take advantage of all the bee resources! Efrain and Jennifer from J'adore Love Photography are sooo cute; seriously they should be in front of the camera rather than behind it! We meet them in Times Square, where we shot there, Bryant Park and just outside the New York public library. It was very cold out, which made it difficult to find "cute" outfits and still keep warm. We did the best that we could do considering the weather.

A few of our favorites:

"Look hun, a bird."
I stop in the middle of the road to kiss ALL the time. :)

I love hip hop, he is hip hop..all in all, I love him.

I am a photo whore.

I am a photo whore.
I've never claimed to be much of a writer, which is why my posts are usually filled with photos and commentary rather than excellent writing. I loooove photography. Usually I am the one behind a camera rather than in front of it. But that's not what this post is about. I am a photo whore, in the sense that I had the opportunity for not just one engagement shoot, but two. From two different photographers in two different states. Yes, I am a photo whore.

Mr. Mek and I's first shoot was with Michelle from Redheaded Ninja. Can you believe I found her on Craigslist?! We met with her at Hershey Park to do our shoot. She has an amazing amount of energy. Seeing her excited about shooting made us excited to pose for her. Here are some of our favs:

The lil' one is Mr. Mek's 4 year old son. We'll call him Lil' B. He's a rockstar.

The two towers in the background are part of the Hershey Chocolate Factory.

The Dry Gulch train, is Lil' B's favorite ride. This photo is so candid; I like how Mr. Mek and I are both looking at Lil' B and that his hands are on both our laps.

Kissing on the Kissing Tower
This photo is just too cute for words. hehe.

My Fav.

Michelle survived the flying skee ball that Lil' B unintentionally almost threw at her head. Opps.

Trying to sneak a smooch on a moving carousel...not so easy.

If you look very closely you can see Lil' B playing between us.

Money business

Money. A sensitive issue. Although, it seems one of the first questions we're asked when we tell people we're planning a wedding in Hawaii is, "Who's paying for the wedding?". Well, we are. Although my dad generously offered to pay for our luau reception/dinner. Mr. Mek and I will be paying for everything else, the bulk of the trip.
A few months ago I applied at a few retail stores in hopes that having a part-time job (on top of my current full-time job) would bring in extra income. Well, during the summer-time, retail stores aren't exactly booming with new hirees. Now I'm relieved that I wasn't called for an interview. I've been doing sooo much free-lancing photography that I barely have time to myself (let alone Mr. Mek). I haven't had a free weekend since the end of August. Since September 1st, I've done 3 weddings, a "1-year anniversary shot (from a wedding I did last year), and an Officer's ball. Besides being able to build up my portfolio and gain more experience, I've been able to pocket a nice chunk of change!
I gotta admit, I was hoping the retail job would help when it came to holiday shopping (store discounts!), but I really think I got the better end of the deal!

Forgive me readers...

For I have sinned; it has been 33 days since my last confession post.

I have been extremely busy lately; with seminars, work, a lil' freelancing. I'll even prove it! Remember those wedding invites I did for my friend, Wendy a few months back? With planning a wedding on such short notice she was on a major budget, so I helped her out by being her wedding photographer for the day. My co-worker Palermo was a great help to me by being a second photographer.

She had a laid back, relaxed wedding despite the hardships she went through the last 15 hours before the wedding. Could you believe she stubbed her toe on the eve of her wedding soooo bad that she could barely walk, let alone walk in heels. On wedding day morning, she was to meet the hair stylist at 9am; the hair stylist had totally forgot about the appointment and didn't show till after 10am (the ceremony started at 11am). That gave the bride about 20 minutes by the time she got back from her hair appointment to get dressed and put her face on. Needless to say everything went on without a hitch after all the morning drama. Here let me show you...

I do not claim to be a wedding photographer by any means, but for a friend on a budget I can make do. :o)
